If you like hurt/comfort tales, then run, don't walk, to Peaceheather's Distress Signals. Post NFA, Spuffy, and it's her very first foray into the fandom. Intriguing premise, and very well written. Totally recommended. And she's posting chapters very quickly.

Dec. 22nd, 2011 04:48 pmI finally have my Xmas eve dinner figured out. My brother suggested I make country style pork ribs and sauerkraut. It's something my mother used to make and is one of his favorites. So in honor of my Mom and our first Xmas without her I am going to make the attempt. Serving up some new potatoes and a couple of vegetable dishes too. Dessert will be a Marie Callendar's pecan pie. Here's hoping I can pull this off. It's the only day of the year that I cook for my brothers and I tend to experiment on them.
One more fishing attempt
Aug. 10th, 2011 07:24 pmWe'll be off the the Sierras again this weekend to see if we have better luck with the trout fishing. Now that most of the snow has melted and the creeks have run, the fishing should pick up. And we'll be able to reach the back country lakes.
We finally booked our flight for our trip to Germany. Geez louise, talk about expensive. However, if we had booked three weeks ago like I wanted, we would have saved over $100. That's a lot of Starbucks lattes, people. My husband does tend to drag his feet.

Jul. 31st, 2011 02:00 pmGetting ready to go fishing for tuna right now. We'll be boating out of San Diego and heading into Mexican waters (had to get a Mexican fishing license). We will fish all day Monday and then arrive back in San Diego on Monday morning. Unfortunately the fish report says that fishing is spotty at best. And I have so many people where I work, especially our lab director, who are waiting for fish (I don't like seafood so I give it away). THE PRESSURE!!!!!!!
Wish me luck!

Mar. 12th, 2011 08:56 pmJust returned from a lovely day with my husband, driving south to antique places in Temecula and San Marcos, then lunch in Julian, then off to San Diego to see James Marsters and Ghost of the Robot perform at Indiefest. Found a couple of nice antiques, and also a nice reproduction of a Thomas Kinkade landscape ( I love his stuff ) that is now on the wall of our living room.
It seems this year it's only raining on the weekends. There go all the plans. And I'm not looking forward to standing in the rain in Santa Monica waiting for Ghost of the Robot to perform (although I'll enjoy seeing them). To ease the pain there will be cupcakes. I guess being forced indoors this weekend, for the most part, means more Christmas baking too. There's some lemonade from those lemons!
Going to my last Angels game of the season on Saturday. I don't think my brother is going to renew our season tickets so it'll be a swan song of sorts. These are awesome seats right behind home plate, but the cost is high and my brother's business has suffered with this economy. And once you give them up you can't get them back. Our family has had these seats for over 20 years. But we just can't afford them now. So my daughter went to her last game yesterday, I go Saturday, and my son goes next Monday. Goodbye seats! We'll miss ya!
Started our fall season. My over 40 team won 7-1. I had two shots on goal but didn't score. But I feel I played well. I am the oldest on the team so I always put a little pressure on myself. But it went well. My over 50 team did not fare as well. We were up 1-0 at the half and then two of our players got hurt. We were down to 9 with no subs. Lost 2-1. We'll get 'em next time!
I suck at journals
Aug. 11th, 2010 04:38 pmI made such a nice post about things I remember of my childhood in my LJ (not here). But I put the whole thing behind a cut and I bet most of my flist didn't bother to read it. I caught the error and fixed it but I think it was too late. I just have the worst trouble with my posts - I'm an LJ doofus.
